From HIS perspective:
My dad told me a girl kept calling trying to sell him safety supplies and that she would be stopping by at the jobsite before lunch. Being overprotective of my dad, naturally I decided to surprise her by showing up at the jobsite to tell her that we were NOT interested. The first thing Dalia said to me was: "Boy, how old are you? You look like you're 19." Annoyed, I responded: "What about you? What are you 35?". At the time I was going through my own personal struggles of not being where I wanted to be in life, working part-time as an engineer and part-time helping my dad start a construction company (did I mention I was back at home living with my parents?). Over the next few weeks I got to know Dalia a little more. I found out that she came from a large family and wanted to have kids, but more importantly I found out she was a practicing Catholic (something really important to my parents. you can sleep easy mom haha). What I loved most about Dalia, and it is still one of things I love about her most, is her capacity to love and to care for others. Within two weeks of meeting Dalia, I knew I'd ask her to marry me (ask my dad or my brother). I believe with all my heart that God brought Dalia and I together at the right time.
From HER perspective:
Carlos and I first met up in uptown Charlotte, NC. I had a lunch meeting with his father, and I noticed him walking behind his father. My first impression of him was, "Damn, I have to be nice to Mr. Know it all, I have always been pretty good at reading people." Fast forward to our first non-date, when I had given Carlos some game tickets to a softball game, and he insisted that I join him. I was not looking forward to it because I had a date the night prior at the same location. Well, the day came, and I decided to join Mr. Know it All and his brother (Elvis Vega). I felt the need to ask my friend (Alma Rodriguez) now my comadre to join me so it would not be weird. During that non-first date, a young man proposed to his girlfriend at the game. At the end of the night, Carlos decided to make it clear that I would be his wife. My response was I just got out of a marriage what makes you think I am going to jump into one. Well, here I am now with three kids and ready to say I do to Mr. Right!
